Tabor City NC Urban Park Civic Center and Train Depot Museum, Phase I , Tabor City, NC Site photograph of restored warehouse and caboose as part of original train station that had been removed from its place by the railroad in the 70’s in part of an urban renewal program. Someone had bought the train station and moved it to Loris subdivision for use as an apartment. The train depot warehouse had been moved a few blocks away in town. As part of the original master plan , it was to be part of a new civic center, chamber of commerce, historic museum, and urban park for the towns Yam Festival. Currently, only phase 1 has been implemented. Handicap accessibility to the museum building is a feature of the restoration. Additionally, an 1800’s era one room school house was to be relocated to the site. |
